    This may be a real dumb question ??
    Does anyone know what the decibel level is for a T/F or F/C and also a TA/D @50ft. from the starting line ???
    I am talking about the first hit when the light goes green.
    I just love that thomp on ones chest!!!

    Top Fuel at 50ft is between 135 and 140 dBs. This is the same as an F-22 Raptor in full afterburner. The only thing that saves the hearing of a lot of racer fans is that the 135 dB does not last long. The other problem with a Top Fuel is that the frequency is real low and is not stopped by those small sponge ear plugs it takes the Mickey Mouse headsets to really save the ears.
    As far as TAFCs I would guess they are around 115-120 dB but I have no real data on them and their frequency is a little higher so it does not thump you in the chest as bad as the Top Fuel.
