In Gainesville 2010 I was racing Reichert in E2, I felt the motor sort of nose over so I grabbed the chute lever. About a puff-teenth later the motor backfired, dropped valve, but I hung onto the lever because I didn't see Bill. At the end of the track Collins came down on his scoot-scoot and reamed me saying I didn't have my box wired up correctly. I told him what I did; he looked at me funny and said "nice job" then left. I'm not saying this happened, but it did for me. What is most likely is that one of Demke's crew guys has a remote control, when Jim was catching up they hit the "easy" button and boom...chutes out. I believe further that all of this banter back and forth is just posturing to shift the focus away from them. This thing likely has decent range, fleet of foot isn't a moniker assigned to anyone on the line there....

Damn it Booher! Now they are gonna check all our pockets at the next race! The remote was only payback for them getting us kicked out of our rooms Saturday night at the race!

In summary, the Maddern team thinks the Whiteley team was doing something fishy?

Why don't you just phone David Leahy? He built it and is a wealth of knowledge on all ignition issues

I was watching the NHRA Live Feed from the event in Topeka, KS this past weekend. It would appear that this issue has struck again, but this time with Mike S. at the wheel. It appears in their overhaul of the tune-up/making it their own, they neglected this area. Maybe I'm just seeing things, we can all take a look when ESPN airs the footage next Sunday.

Wow! I just watched the Sportsman show from Topeka on ESPN2. It would appear that the safety box parachute deployment mechanism is still delayed on that car. :( I could say a whole lot more on this issue, but I will shut up now.
