WE ARE RUNNING A BRAD BILLET BLOCK, WITH BRAD 5 HEADS, PLUGER DRY SUMP PUMP, A .060 RESTRICTOR TO THE ROCKER ARMS, 18 QTS. OF KENDELL 70. COMPUTER SHOWS 100 LBS. OF OIL PRESSURE UNTIL THE THROTLE IS LET UP THEN WITH IN ABOUT 1/4 SECOND WILL GO DOWN TO ABOUT 6 LBS. AT TIMES ABOUT 3 TO 4 SECONDS LATER MAY GO UP TO 75LBS. I AM THINKING THE OIL IS STAYING IN THE VAVLE COVERS AND NOT GETING BACK TO THE PUMP. ANY IDEAS.

if possible run more oil. if your tank isn't big enough, get a bigger tank. we run 21 plus one in the filter in our plueger dry sump system, and have plenty of oil pressure....120 during the run, and drops off after the run, but not that low. jason kills the motor as soon as the chutes hit with the kill switch.

We had this exact problem with our Alan Johnson motor, added 2 more quarts of oil, no problem for 2 years. Note, we also use a tall, vertical Peterson tank which keeps more oil around the pickup. [IMG]

We had the same problem with the oil pressure dropping a whole ton a few years ago. After hurting a few motors we installed one of those Moroso Accusump deals on the car, which hold an extra 3 quarts under pressure and shoves it into the pump when there is a sudden drop in oil pressure. Haven't hurt a bearing since then that was oil related. And at the finish line the gauge doesn’t go close to zero anymore, usually is around 20 lbs or so.

We ran it on our dragster for a year, then when we switched to Funnycar we threw it on there...cheap insurance, and it probably gives you a second or two more of time to react when something is going sour.
