One of it's many features allows you to take timing out of your engine, if your car's not hooking up at the step to help prevent smoking the tires. It can also be programmed to set up an ignition curve that works best with your blower boost curve. And also allows for Individual Cylinder Management with up to 10° of retard per cylinder.
