Lehey shutoff, New rules ?

I was under the impression that my shutoff had to actuate both parachutes. Phoenix, top fuel Matco Car, 4 runs only the left chute deployed? anyone care to explain.

The shut off controller can be bypassed when you throw the chute. It activates a switch to disable the shut off controller, it is in the rule book. I guess the thought is if you can put the laundry out you are able to shut the car down normally. Some teams didn't like the unit killing the car the way it does and NHRA gives them this option. I always kill my car before the controller does anyway with my routine so it does not impact me.
