If it turns cloudy it has hydro-carbons in . We have never had any trouble with the bulk stuff but we buy lab grade99.9 pure. No matter where you get your fuel it can never be to clean -keep that rag out of there

    Flush Alcohol

What we see in this part of the country most often is cheap methanol that they strip out of the gas pipelines.

In the winter, they use it to pull moisture out of the gas pipelines so they not freeze up in the cold.

It not only has high levels of moisture in it but also grass, dirt, rust / scale, and who knows what other liquids that they can not control.

It comes around when the temps are on the rise and racers are looking to start up the season.

We sell Sunoco and have zero problems with it, ever.

And our racers are way happy with it.

    Take care, K

I seriously doubt VP makes their own methanol.
Most of it is made from Natural Gas and you have to have a cheap source of it
some of it is made form coal
VP probably filters it and has a clean source and a lined drum helps
You should have a hydrometer to check for water
I have only bought "racing alcohol" 1 time in 28 years the rest has all came from a chemical co's !
