    egts

idle egts will sometimes be more unreliable than stage or run egts.

i did not mean to say that an egt avg of 700 at stage is a false or inaccurate reading, i was just stating the fact that the egt avg at stage and the cylinder head temp are not always locked together. as i stated earlier, you can have two runs where the egt average is almost the same at 700, but one run the head temp may be hotter. it's not that the egt reading is false, it doesn't always guarantee the same head temp, thus the need to monitor it.

The cylinder head temp (HCT) is actually measuring the physical temp of the chunk of aluminum and the EGT is measuring the temp of the exhaust at exit. HCTs will not change very fast when compared to EGTs.

Most Multimeters have a Fahrenheit Scale and come with a PYrometer lead. Just for quick checks after warm up, as computer stuff gets expensive.
