Thanks Mike. Ya I change pill as needed for density Altitude. With the fuel program, I have been able to consistently burn the "9" plugs about the same, on all different tracks and Altitudes. I will have to go back through everything and make sure something in the fuel program didn't get changed by mistake. (Pump flow, Nozzle area, etc). Thanks for the info.

Big changes in water grains can cause that. Going from 50 grains to 100+ or reverse.

    b9es vs b10es

so if all stays the same except the plugs; how different would the plugs read? b9es vs b10es. I run the 9 and you mentioned to goto the 10s. At the moment I burn the flat on the plug 3/4 to full circle.

On alcohol motors you try and get the idle EGTs around 450-500 average. Normally the two back cylinders may be hotter due to manifold design but there is not much you can do about it. More important is staging EGT which should average around 625.

Mike - are you saying that at stage you would like to see all EGTs at 625?

That is the ultimate but a 625 average is good. This is NOT using a Two Step

i realize we may be getting to the point in this convo people wont wanna share numbers to much, but given the fact egt temps are somewhat persoanly to every car and or set up, what sorta temp numbers would you look for on a roots car on the 2 step?

    egt location

Just for a relative point on egt location. I have never back to backed this to confirm, but based on my experience with different cars with very similar combinations, I would say that if you ran a car with a set of headers with egt's on top, then came back, changed the headers to egt's on bottom, the egt temps would be about 80-100 warmer with the top location vs the bottom. (Assuming same distance from ex port).

    Know what numbers mean

I've walked up to a someone's data, saw 1250-1280 egt's, heads were off, all was fine, asked to look at plugs, they looked like new, last run was a slug! Their plan was to richen it because it was thought it was going to burn up. Back to plugs looking like new, checked timing, was retarded 14* from where it was supposed to be. No jet change, just timing, next run .6 quicker, egt's dropped to 875.
Moral: fire can be on thermocouple outside chamber for false reading.
