Interesting article but dated 1992 which is before screw blowers came along plus the material the belts are made of has changed but still some good information.

For those running screws, with high overdrive, with 8mm belts, how are you generally setting/establishing the amount of belt tension to use?

Another neat video. Same application. First a 14mm belt, then a 8mm belt......

For those of you with screws, three quick questions for you........

    1) What do the failed ends of the belt tend to look like? Straight line clean across one set of teeth from side to side? Kind of a jagged torn line across the teeth in general? Any sheared off, or chewed up, or missing teeth?

    2) Has anyone noticed any sort of a trend related to the presence or absence of the quill shaft? For example, a person could have a PSI quill, or a stronger Lenco quill, or an RCD quill eliminator. Any noted patterns between quill "stiffness" and belt breakage?

    3) For those of you who are NOT two stepping, what do your failed belt ends tend to look like?

Pictures are worth a thousand words, but I understand posting pictures is hard here. If you have some I'd be receptive at TOLenergy@look.ca

    Thanks.

Do you recall the upper and lower pulley sizes roughly Mike? What do your failed belts tend to look like post failure? Thanks.
