Not sure that would sell me on them Adam Flamholc went 5.96 at Santa Pod the previous year and won the race and set the European record with NO down nozzles

Regardless of nozzle position & type, everything has to be looked at in regards to the overall tuning of the engine.
The effective AFR presented to the back of the intake valve may work great on one set-up but completely suck on another. In-cylinder vaporization is a variable dependent on many things, not the least of which is the amount of time available during the compression stroke (RPM).
In an ideal world we would present only high density cool vapor at the back of the intake, but in reality that is neither possible or tuneable over the effective RPM range with current mechanical fuel delivery systems.
Everybody has a best balance in their set-up to present a mixture to the back of the intake, then carry on vaporization through the top of the power stroke for best cylinder pressure. It makes sense to me to try to maximize the vaporization as early as possible, but that does not mean down nozzles might not work.
As with anything, budget & ability to run laps will bring definitive guesses ;)
