This a twin turbo hemi on alcohol in a pulling application. Mechanical fuel injection. TFX 96 with Brad fuel heads, MSD 44 at 24 deg timing, Hilborn 250-5 pump. EGTs 1020-1130 (cad just colored mostly around the bottom of the plugs). Fuel press is 197 psi & boost is 37 psi, 8500 ERPM, all at he time of detonation. The motor ran good but I could feel a slight vibration during the run then it split a weld on my intake plenum. There are fasteners loose multiple places on the engine. My question is, is it possible to have detonation when the EGTs are not that hot and soft timing? More fuel, less timing, less boost or ??????

One thing at a time , I would roll back on the boost to look for change. Do you keep track of your fuel pump flow ? I like keeping track of A/F ratio by weight.

I only have fuel pressure, no flow or A/F. Pulling fuel systems are typically richer than drag systems, but I was trying to get some general ideas. Thanks.

What’s the bearings look like? Are they all wide or just 1 or 2? That would dictate if you need to work on a cylinder or two or the entire system.
