blown sbc

You guys have helped before. Maybe you can help again. I am trying to help a freind. He has a sbc,871,bird inj.about 9.0 comp.dart 23 deg. heads,392 cubic in. He has a 44 mag. in it . Is that to big. How much lead to start,how much max? Overdrive on blower? He is trying to get his license and just needs to get it down the track a few times without killing it.

I dont know about the MSD mags as I havent run them yet but a safe tune up would be about 15% over or less and around 25-27* of timing shouldnt hurt anything, and it will probably still run high 7's there as light as altereds are.
