    Putting together my first blown motor and will 15% underdrive it to keep it around 9lbs at first. My "big as a tire rim" 70 tooth top pulley hits that pressure relief button...

    I was thinking of taking the spring out and tig welding the button down for the pulley to clear. Thoughts?

    move it

    I would just remove the front cover then drill and tap a new hole for the relief valve and put a plug in the old hole. If you weld it I would expect it to leak a little oil out probably not a bunch but enough to make a mess.

    Well...That's easy enough. I'll do that tomorrow. Thanks

    Follow up questions;

    1) How much oil do I put in? Just enough to cover the bottom of the gears (top of sight glass)

    2) What type of oil do most use? Just regular 80w gear oil? I have some Redline light weight synthetic oil that I run in my rear end that I thought might work
