Have a 125inch altered. Blown small block 388 10-71 HH kobleco with inlet mods 33% over. -12 heads 9200 shift. 33.5-17 D1 tire. 3.89 4.11 4.30 gears for the rear. Just put the car on the scales, car+drive is 1540lb every thing is on the car but the tranny. Converter bolted to the flywheel. Been told that the car is so light that I should run a 2speed? What do you guys think??

2 speed should work and thats one less gear to shift. I know in 1981 Bill Mullins had the quickest small block TAD and he ran a Lenco 2 speed (I will guess ~1400-1500 lb car).

    2 or 3 speed

I had a similar combination but a smaller blower haad a problem with tire spin but it was consostant all the time used a powerglide from our superstocker,it worked ok but I never felt comfotable with it went to a lenco and clutch but the right glide and converter combo should work(had a mikes converter with NO problems).Rick

    2 or 3speed

Thanks guys. the motor came out of a 280inch dragster 1950lb with 34.5 tire. they where running a 3speed lencodrive. and worked good...3.90s. Have the converter that was ran in the lencodrive. With the smaller tire ,300lb lighter and alot shorter wheelbase. just want to get the right parts the 1st time.. thanks, anthony

the car will run faster with a 3 speed. motor will stay in powerband longer, go with the 3 speed. i know alot of guys that ran 3 speeds in dragsters with small blocks and they ran really well. i know this is a totally different combination, but Rick Santos ran a 3 speed in his car.......he flew.
    just my 2 cents
