Does anybody know what benefits the inlet and outlet mods have on a waterman pump. I hav a lil Bertha with just inlet mods and was thinking of doing the outlet side as well. Does it pick up fuel flow or is it just to stop the pump from cavating . Reason for asking is this pump is in a pro mod car and when you step on the clutch pedal after a burn out the idle jumps about 800 rpms. Yes because the 2 step lean out poppit is opening and if I pump a switch on it to turn it off. All is well. So isn't this telling me my pump is too small. Just looking for some input.

Normally those Waterman pump modifications are mainly done to reduce cavitations if you take the motor up to high rpms. What you are seeing with the 800 rpm jump is absolutely normal due to you leaning out the motor because the Two Step fuel bypass is turning on in your configuration. You can see the same thing happen if you pull the fuel shutoff lever a little and lean out the motor the motor will increase in rpm. One way to get around this is to put a Wide Open Throttle switch in series with the clutch switch to the Two Step fuel solenoid relay. Now the clutch pedal has to be to the floor and the throttle wide open before the Two Step fuel solenoid is activated. Now your idle will be constant.
