trouble shooting a 44 pro mag??????

    I just had my car running seting the timing and it shut off checked all the connections and disconnected all the hot pickups and nothing !!!
    red coil has continuity between all three posts any ideas?????

    I have run a motor out of fuel checking and adjusting the timing and have had it quit abruptly. Did you check that you still have fuel? I believe the biggest single point of failure is the Electronic Points Box. Have you checked to see if you have spark out of the coil while cranking it?

    we had fuel... and disconnected everything but the points box we checked for spark at the coil and nothing! Mike is their a way to check the box?

    i had something similar happen like that last year in the pits the car was running fine was setting the timing shut the car off and then it wouldnt start back up the mag points and coil was 2 races old could not figure it out put different mag and coil it started right up

    so sent the mag, coil and points to dave lahey it all checked out good EXCEPT ONE OF THE LITTLE WIRES INSIDE THE THE PLUG IN ON THE MAG HAD SLIPPED BACK IN THE PLUG IN AND WASNT MAKING A CONNECTION AND $169.OO DOLLARS LATER EVERY THING WAS FINE AGIAN

    Thanks Jim , I checked that as well, is their any tests that can be run to check the box and coil? sounds like it is going to have to go to Dave if their is no way to trouble shoot this stuff!

    Most likely points box we have had 2 go on us. same thing as you really. if you haven't already then got one of these (Pro Mag Setup Tool PN 8122) helpful for checking spark and setting rotor phasing and also timing.

    44 promblem

    Our team car had the same problem, turned out to be a loose wire ( the purple one) in the two wire connector on the side of the mag. The purple wire was one of the feedback legs to the mag controller to tell it when to fire. No feedback and the mag looses/wont fire

    thats what was wrong with mine but i never thought to check it since the stuff was new the little square black connector

    I tried all of your sugestions and still nothing, Its on its way to Dave Leahy now!
    Thanks to everyone that replied ! Even though I did not find a simple solution to my problem I have to say.... Will Hana this is the best sight on the net! I have met and made friends with so many great people on here!
