EDMONTON, Alb. -- Finally, the Tenacious Racing funny car team's 'tenacity' paid off with a #6 qualifying effort and a date in eliminations. They faced a very tough five- time world champion driver in Mark Thomas, and thought they might find a tenth in their tune-up after looking at the data on the computer. They knew they would need, it as Thomas was just over a tenth quicker in qualifying.
A good start was necessary, but unfortunately Trevor got slightly distracted, and had one of his worst lights in competition, and Thomas had a good light, making the race over in a hurry. Crew chief Sean Brown had the car hopped up, but it shook and spun the tires hard right at 60 feet, so the results likely would have been in Thomas' favour. He ran a solid 5.96 and made it to the final round.

"We were happy to finally qualify, and were optimistic we could improve from our 6.11 qualifying time. But these Funny Cars sometimes have a mind of their own as witnessed by our first qualifier. We will regroup and get ready for the next race on the IHRA schedule.

Before heading to Milan for the next event in two weeks, the team will race at Medicine Hat this weekend, for that track's first ever 'Top Alcohol Shootout'. Two events back to back in their home province does not come along very often, and they are looking forward to a more laid back event than the rigors of national event competition.
