TAD question ?

    I was talking to a local guy about running his dragster. He has the "typical" car I guess with a PSI , carbon hat, Hemi etc.
    He has showed me a few dyno sheets on an engine in that class that made 3400 hp , but it made the most power in the 7600 rpm area. ( 3400 @ 7600 is what I remember, but it might not be exact figures )

    He told me that he runs the car at like 11,000 rpm on a run ?

    My question is " why don't you put more gear in it and run the engine at 7700 rpm instead of 11,000" ? Wouldn't it actually run faster and quicker using the power range to utilize the gear ?

    3400Hp seems a little high to me especially at that RPM.
