    Pro Mod Blowers

I think there is people running both with great success. I don't think anyone is running a stock version most are running a dmpe or howard moon or davenport or billies modified kobelco or a psi that has been modified by one of the above shops. the kobelco is 7700.00 as the psi is 8900.00 the modifications vary from 2400.00 to 4000.00 most mods improve a few pounds of boost and the boost curve hope this helps thanks jr

Stepping up the overdrive for a moment, I'd like to pose the same question with respect to Top Alcohol type use.

Now that both superchargers have had a year or so exposure to TA, does there generally seem to be much of a difference between the two?

At such overdrive/boost levels do both still require mods out of the box? I had heard that the PSI was a bolt-on & go deal, whereas the Kobelco needs massaging. I'm talking 40% or more overdrive.

What about service interval differences between the two?

I have to buy one or the other shortly, so any feedback would be appreciated.

    Blowers

To Answer Roberts Question On The Ssi Depends On Your Application. The Original Questions Was Asked About Pro Mod. As We Know These Cars Are Only Allowed 20 Over On A 526ish Cubic Inch Motor. All Blowers Will Typically Benifit From Some Inlet Mods, plugging The Rotor Lightning Holes Etc. Does It Need To Be Done To Every Blower Most Of The Time Not Unless You Are In A Class With Strict Overdrive Rules. Most Important Is To Get Your Car To The Track And Make Some Laps. Once You Feel You Are At The End Of The Rope On The Performance You Can Make Changes To Improve Your Blower As Long As The Rest Of The Componets Of The Engine Are Up To The Potential. Tol On The Higher Overdrive The Psi Works Great Out Of The Box As Does The Kobelco But Again Almost All Racing Products Benifit From Some Modification. Waterman Pumps, msd Mags, bae Blower Manifolds, All Are Bought Brand New As The Best Parts Money Can Buy And Are Modified For Better Performance Advantages. As Far As One Blower Making More Horsepower Towards The End Of Last Year Psi Was Coming Around On The Pro Mod Making A Little More Hp On Some Engine Builders Dyno's. As Far As Service Levels I Think That Really Has To Do With Your Tune Up And What You Expect Out Of Your Blower. Typically A Blower Will Drop A Couple Pounds After It Is Freshned And Will Take A Set If Conditions Are Kept At Regular Operationg Conditions. Some Tuners Want A Blower Fresh All The Time To Take No Chances Of A Seal Leaking Or Boost Not Being To Its Full Potential. We Have A Customer Who Runs A Very Competitive Blown Alch. Flat Run A Psi Helix All Year Without Restripping And Just Sent It In For A Restrip And Freshing. The Blower Has Over 30 Passes And Looks Great At Between 48 And 55 Over On A 540 Bae. We Also Have Two Customers Who Run Kobelco K-11 Blowers With Between 44 To 55 Over And One Customers Typically Has Smashed Teflon And Scuffed Rotors As The Other Customers Blower Looks Brand New Inside. Both Cars Are Almost Equal In Performance But The One With The More Worn Blower Needs Some Fuel Sytem Adjustments Most Likely To Make There Combo Work Better And Let The Blower Be A Little Happier. As Far As Maintence They Both Have Great Workmanship Come Apart And Go Back Together With Out A Bunch Of Special Tools And Can Be Restripped With Basic Handtools. Psi Does Offer A Maitnence Kit For The Do It Yourselfers On There Roots Blower. Hjope This Helps A Little And We Have Constant Stock Orders Going With Kobelco And Psi So If You Need A New Blower We Might Be Able To Save You Some Of The Wait.
