Looking for some advice i am thinking of converting my 572 blown gas motor to blown alcohol and want to run a very mild set up this year typically no more than 20 psi boost, with 9.5:1 compression. What i need to know is can i stay with my steel rods on this mild set up or should i do the aluminum rod swap. Just wanting to run my 2600# car in and around 7.50's hoping not to have to change much this year. can anyone give me their thoughts on this or am i making a fatal error in trying this combo?
    Thanks
    Simon

PS this motor has good parts in it callies crank, carillo rods dished blower pistons, zero gap rings

The new generation of steel rods are finding there way more and more into areas in the past would not be even considered. Several very high end Comp Eliminator blown or Turbo'd engines run steel rods very sucessfully. Mark Wolf who runs a AA/AT (record holder)Turbo'd car would not even consider anything else. Ken Detweller (bad spelling) who is considered by many as King of high end turbocharging uses steel rods in most all his engines.

I still have not found the courage to do it yet.

Most likely it would meet your personal needs.

    That's my thoughts anyway.............Blessings..........Ron.

At the boost and compression you're talking about, I think you would be fine, just keep and eye on your bearings for any evidence of pounding, the steel rods (especially Carillo's) don't have a lot of cushioning, but 20 pounds at 9.5 should give you all the cushion you'll need. JMHO
