EDMONTON, Alb. -- Not quite the finish to the weekend that had shown so much promise after Friday qualifying when the car went 6.20, for Nathan's best ever run in a Funny Car. With the data received on their new on board computer, they were ready to improve their qualifying position, and hope for a new career best on Saturday. Unfortunately the weather gods put a literal damper on their hopes, as rain washed out both rounds on Saturday, leaving them in the unfortunate #9 position in an 8-car field. Since they weren't in the field they decided to stay at the track and do some routine maintenance on the car in preparation for the Top Alcohol Shootout at Medicine Hat Alberta next weekend. They put on a new set of higher flowing cylinder heads to see if they would show a performance improvement.
They good some good news on Sunday morning, when the IHRA decided to let them, thanks to their team and also event sponsor Western RV Country, and Scott McVey, driving his Hooter's sponsored Funny Car. Run a match race after second round of eliminations. Team owner Ken Sitko and Nathan were excited because they could received more data with the new cylinder heads on the car.

Their optimism did not last long though, as just before half-track the car nosed over and Nathan lifted, but when they returned back to the pits they found that a rod nut had sheared off and they blew a connecting rod out of the block. So their day was not done. They took out the old engine and installed their new one in preparation for next weekend's event.

While they were happy to run a new career best they wanted to qualify bad and hope they will have a better result in Medicine Hat next weekend.
