Harrison Twp., MI – Todd Robertson is a blue collar guy from the
Detroit area. He was a young kid during the muscle car heyday in
Detroit when the “Big Three” were IT! Like many area families Todd’s
father, Clifford Robertson, worked for one of the “Big Three” and
pride in American made was instilled very early. So, when Todd became
a “motor head” he always tried to take pride in having his cars look
as good as they performed. That pride was evident at Cobo Hall last
weekend when Robertson and his “Motor City Machine” top alcohol funny
car won best in class honors at the recent 2012 Detroit Autorama.

“Growing up in this area was something special,” said Robertson.
“This is the Motor City! It’s hot rods, muscle cars, horsepower, and
America. Just think about the drag racing history from this area like
the RAMCHARGERS, Al Bergler, the Kalitta’s, and countless others. Like
just about every kid from this area I caught the motor head bug early
and it’s stuck with me thanks to the impressions left on me by the
racers I watched back in the day. That’s why we felt the (Detroit)
Autorama was the perfect place to debut our NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car
and after winning this award I couldn’t be happier for everyone
involved. Now the hard work really starts,” added Robertson.

Robertson’s Eaton backed Funny Car is run out of his Pro Power
Motorsports shop based in Harrison Twp., Michigan. The fantastic paint
was applied by Dan Carpenter of Art by Carp. Carpenter has been
involved with many Detroit Autorama winning vehicles and is one of the
most decorated individuals in Detroit Autorama history. In 2009
Carpenter was inducted into the Detroit Autorama Elite Circle of
    Champions.
Robertson’s schedule now sends him to Darren Mayer’s DMPE for
continued engine testing. DMPE Inc, located in Stevensville, Michigan,
now offers Engine Dyno Testing services on an inertia wheel
dynomometer designed and developed by Darren Mayer. This state of the
art machine is capable of testing over 4500 horsepower and 3500 ft
    pounds of torque.
“We are lucky to have Darren’s facility so close to us. He is a
talented individual and being able to use his dyno is invaluable to
us,” said crew chief Dennis Kolomyjec.
