Runner-up Finish for Snyder in Brainerd

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team was in Brainerd, Minnesota this past weekend to participate in the Lucas Oil Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway. In a stellar field, which included 8 of last year’s top 10 in the National points standings, Snyder made his 4th straight final round appearance of the year.

After one round of qualifying, Snyder lead the field before ending up in the third position with a 5.62 at 255.73 mph. “The field was really tough this weekend. We have been doing really well on the divisional level for the past couple of months. This was a chance to go out and prove that we can run with the best of the best. We qualified great and with the runner-up finish we believe that we did just that,” commented Snyder.

First round, Snyder ran 5.67 at 253.71 mph to take the win light. By second round all eight cars left in the field were in the top 10 in points last season. Snyder had his opponent off the line and never looked back. He laid down a 5.66 at 254.95 to win the round and earn low ET of the session. In the semi-finals, the TORCO Racing Fuels funny car was once again first off the line and motored down the track at 5.67 and 254.95. Final round, the defending Division 3 champion cut an almost perfect .008 light but fell behind when the car shook and made a move toward the centerline.

“It would have been nice to finish off the weekend with a win. But with the way the car ran this weekend and the great field here in Brainerd we can’t be disappointed with how we finished up. That last run was the first time all weekend we had been in the 5.70’s. It just happened at the wrong time against a great opponent.”

The performance this weekend has moved the Snyder Motorsports Top Alcohol Funny Car up into 4th place in the POWERade National points standings; less than one round out of 3rd.
