Thacker Looking to Close Out the Season With a Win

For their final event of the 2005 race season, the Rapid Transit Race Team will be heading down the Division 2 Lucas Oil Racing Series event in Reynolds, Georgia. The Team has had a very successful season so far with Marty Thacker behind the wheel of the TORCO Racing Fuels Top Alcohol Dragster and is hoping to add one more win to their portfolio.
Thacker, the 2002 Division 2 Champion, will be competing in his 17th race of the season and 8th Divisional event. The Team is currently sitting in 6th place in the POWERade National Points standings, but is looking to move up into 4th place with a win this weekend at Silver Dollar Raceway.

"The entire Rapid Transit Team enjoys going down to Division 2 to race. Since we used to participate in their Divisional Series we have a lot of friends still down there. The fans are so enthusiastic; we really like to put on a show for them,” said the newly crowned 2005 Division 3 champion.

"This is possibly our last event for the year and the best way to close out any year is with a win. It helps keep the competitive juices flowing throughout the first half of the winter. If you don't stay busy over the next few months January and February can be overwhelming. Like virtually every other sport, there is no off-season anymore. Besides, I would love to call TORCO Racing Fuels and let them know we were able to get this car in the winner’s circle for the 3rd time this year. I am sure our friends at Atlantic Scaffolding will be looking for some great things from us as well."

"I really need to thank my crew. These guys all have lives and “real” jobs of their own. Somehow they find the time and energy to help me chase the dream. It's impossible for all of them to attend every event, so they work together to make sure I have somewhere between 4 and 6 people to keep the TORCO Dragster motoring down the track. The Rapid Transit crew consists of Paul Thacker (semi-retired), Mitch Thacker, Dan Fuller, Larry Hunsaker, Brian Mans, Mark Wolfe, Bob Wright, Lannie Hoke, and Alan Hoke. I owe these guys a lot."
Qualifying for the event will begin at 4 PM on Saturday with a second shot coming at 7 PM. Eliminations for Top Alcohol Dragster will begin at 1 PM on Sunday. Please visit dragracecentral.com for up to date qualifying and eliminations information.
