Thacker Continues Points Chase
Heading to Reading for 1st of 5 races in 3 weeks

The Rapid Transit Race Team will be in Reading, Pennsylvania for the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals this weekend to begin what will be three straight weeks of racing for the TORCO Racing Fuels sponsored Top Alcohol Dragster.

The Team is currently sitting in 12th place in the NHRA POWERade National points standings and 2nd place in the Lucas Oil Divisional points standings. All that could change in the next 3 weeks as they will be participating in 2 National events and 1 Divisional event. They will also be finishing the Bowling Green Divisional race that was postponed after the first round of eliminations and racing in the prestigious Jeg’s All-Stars event as the Division 3 representative.

The next 3 weeks are going to be the busiest of the season, but the Rapid Transit Race Team with help from their excellent sponsors is up for the challenge.

"Maple Grove is one of the nicest tracks on the circuit. We always look forward to this event. Hopefully the weather cooperates and we can have warmer temperatures than they are predicting. This TORCO car has been running good recently. We're excited about running on a great racetrack in what has traditionally been very good air, but we still have to consider the A-Fuel cars and what they will be able to do in the same conditions,” remarked Thacker.

“We know that we'll have to run on the ragged edge to be close to their performance. With so many big events the next 3 weeks we can't afford a lot of parts attrition. It's going to be a fine balancing act. I consider myself blessed that TORCO Race Fuels and Atlantic Scaffolding are on board with us so that we are able to compete as this level."

Qualifying for the Toyo Tires NHRA National Event will begin at noon on Friday with the second qualifying session coming at 4:00 PM. The third and final qualifying run will be at 1:00 on Saturday followed by the first round of eliminations at 4:15 that afternoon. Sunday eliminations will continue beginning around 12:00 PM.
