Thacker Hoping for Continued Success in Joliet

Top Alcohol Dragster driver Marty Thacker and the Rapid Transit Race Team sponsored by TORCO Race Fuels are heading to Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois this weekend. They are hoping to come away with their second win in as many divisional races.

The Team is coming off a big divisional win at Mid-Michigan Motorplex, which was held on 4th of July weekend. Thacker has had much success at Route 66 in the past including the first ever blown alcohol 270 mph run as well as winner and runner-up finishes in the 2002 and 2003 Jeg’s All-Stars events, respectively. He is hoping to pick up his first divisional event win at this track this weekend.

“We got a lot of confidence back with the win in Michigan a couple of weeks ago,” stated Thacker, “but we were not able to push the car performance wise due to a tricky track. Joliet is one of the best tracks on the NHRA circuit right now. We are really looking forward racing here and hopefully we will be able to put the TORCO Racing Fuels Top Alcohol Dragster in the winner’s circle again.”

Thacker is currently right in the middle of the Division 3 points chase. Most of the competitors in front of him have claimed more races thus far and a win here would put the Team right in the thick of things.

“We have been receiving a lot of encouragement from Atlantic Scaffolding and some of our friends at Boltech Services are planning to attend the race this weekend. It would be extra satisfying to be able to put on a good show in front of our sponsors.”

Qualifying will begin Friday night at 5 PM and continue at 5 and 8 PM Saturday. Eliminations are scheduled to begin at 1 PM Sunday.
