Thacker Ready to Run in Bristol

Coming off a rough weekend in Joliet, Illinois, Marty Thacker and the Rapid Transit Race Team are heading to Bristol, Tennessee this weekend for the their fourth divisional event of the season. The Top Alcohol Dragster sponsored by TORCO Race Fuels has one win under their belt already this year and they are looking to pick up number two at the Division 2 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Event on Saturday.

The Team, based out of Robinson, Illinois, was the event champion in 2002 and runner-up last season at Thunder Valley. After putting in a lot of long hours the past four days to get the car “race ready”, they are hoping to come away with a win in a tough Division 2 field this weekend.

"After being in the Winner’s Circle in Mid-Michigan, we stumbled hard in Joliet. It wasn't cockiness or lack of preparation. All of our problems started as little part failures that caused a lot of damage. Now we need to shake it off, get the car back together and go make this thing fly again. That always heals the wounds. We would love to take this TORCO dragster to the Bristol championship. "

"Aside from our normal weekly maintenance, in the last four days we had to build another engine from scratch, change a broken ring and pinion, swap transmission ratios around, and repair the injector hat. It is pretty impressive to watch my crew pull together when we are in a tight spot. The Team will get 2 time runs on Friday at 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM. Eliminations will begin at 3 PM on Saturday.
