.001 makes the difference for Wilson Racing!

Joliet, ILL.. - This past weekend's NHRA / POWERADE Drag Racing Series National Event, the Carquest Auto Parts Nationals at Route 66 in Joliet, ILL. just outside of Chicago June 9th-12th was the latest stop for the TORCO Race Fuels / Wilson Racing Team for 2005.

Wilson, from Winfield, Mo., was very disappointed due to qualifying 16th by only one .001 of a second after smoking the tires on the first two runs on a very difficult race surface. They received one last chance Saturday morning and they ran good enough to qualify 16th. "This was an emotional weekend when we almost did not qualify and made the show on our final run." stated Wilson " Then we upset the #1 qualifier first round with our quickest run of the weekend at that point and the #8 qualifier the next round before losing to the eventual event winner in the semi-finals. This is all part of racing and one of the reasons we enjoy it so much."

"This past weekend is just another example of how important it is to never give up. When you can upset the #1 qualifier and keep them from gaining those ever-so-valuable points, that is a successful weekend. This weekend is also another prime example of the importance of Team work is and why you never give up. We are learning every run and we know we are capable of winning at any event. After almost not qualifying our team worked very hard to step it up so we could run quicker during elimination's than we did in qualifying and we did." stated Wilson.

Wilson Racing is already preparing for the next event in Stanton, MI. in less than 3 weeks and wants to keep focused on all the positive that they have experienced so far this year. "We are going to Stanton with a new combination that we believe will solve our inconsistency and hopefully we will have good weather so we are able to receive all of our qualifying sessions. Our Team is working very hard together and this past weekend is another good example of the difference it makes when your Team believes in what they are doing". stated Wilson.

"We want to take this time to thank all of our sponsors for all their support and we hope to be fortunate enough to put them back in the winners circle again very soon." commented Wilson. (Torco Race Fuels, STARCON, Spitzer Race Cars and Composites, Mickey Thompson Tires, Valvoline, Scott Shop Towels, Abmira Program Design, NGK Spark Plugs, Jacklyn Gebhardt Trailer Sales, American Colorscans Commercial Graphics, Stainless Works, Iron Glove Company and Scott Mack Designs.) "We are already looking forward to our next event." stated Wilson.
