PR-GRAND BEND- Evanchuk to drive second Atchison Racing entry

GRAND BEND, Ont. - Atchison Racing and “Back to Back” IHRA World Champion Rob Atchison are pleased to announce the addition of Edmonton, Alberta’s John Evanchuk as driver of the second Erickson Manufacturing Pontiac at the 2005 Mopar Canadian Nationals.

John made his Eastern Canada debut at last year’s Mopar Canadian Nationals where he qualified No. 5 before losing in round two to Terry Munroe. “John and I became good friends at the inaugural Rocky Mountain Nationals” stated Atchison. “We managed to get sponsorship for him to come to Ontario and drive our second car. Last year we all had fun at Grand Bend Motorplex and even though we couldn’t get any additional sponsorship we decided to race both cars. We will have all of our crew at this event, so we’ll have lots of people on hand to maintain both cars.”

Evanchuk races his own 2003 Pontiac, named “Red Wolf,” in Western Canada and the US at both NHRA and IHRA events. “It’s great to be associated with such an outstanding group of guys and to drive such a great car,” said Evanchuk. “It is no fluke that Robbie and his team are World Champions, because they are very talented and have the dedication it takes to succeed. Last year my wife Ruth and I had a lot of fun being part of this team and meeting the great Ontario fans.

“This year my crewman Shaun is coming, because Ruth has work commitments,” Evanchuk added. “It will be a great opportunity for him to work hand-in-hand with the best. Atchison Racing Marketing Manager Dennis Smith is busy trying to get a sponsorship package in place so I can come back East and run the AC Delco Canadian Nationals at Toronto Motorsports Park.”
