    Johnson: New Alcohol Competitor

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas Motorplex, located on the outskirts of Dallas, Texas will be the host of former stock and super class racer, Jonathan Johnson, for his Top Alcohol Funny Car debut. This 23 year-old architecture student at Texas A&M University will compete with the nations best alcohol drivers at this weekend’s O’Reilly Fall Nationals. Johnson, who concluded his licensing procedures in Noble, Okalahoma at the recent Division 4 race, enters this event very optimistic and energized to begin his alcohol career.

“Teaming with Brad McWilliams has been a real blessing. The team has welcomed me with open arms, and we have gelled very well during our test sessions,” said Johnson. “We all have a great sense of humor and really have a great time at the track. I know that I am very green in many areas, but the ‘want to’ is for sure there, and I feel you will see significant strides in our team between this weekend and the off-season, as we prepare for next year.”

The recent landfall of Hurricane Rita on the Texas coast had a huge effect on many Beaumont businesses and caused extreme damage to the Johnson family lube center and car wash. “Dad has been working his tail off since the hurricane hit, and still finds time to run our other businesses: an auto repair center and full service gas station. He has made this bad situation good for everyone by servicing the emergency vehicles and pulling strings to keep gas in the ground for neighbors and emergency officials,” said Jonathan. The emergency crews have worked constantly since the storm winds slowed to restore power and civility in Southeast Texas and they deserve much appreciation for this.

The McWilliams/Johnson team (www.johnsonboyz.com) looks forward to an enjoyable, eventful, and competitive weekend, while representing our sponsors and marketing partners, as well as gathering data for next year. The ongoing sponsor support from Team Classic Chevrolet (www.classicchevroletbmt.com) located in Beaumont, Texas and Market Basket Food Stores (www.mbfoods.com) remains greatly appreciated and recognized by all crew members, fans, and onlookers, and we thank them for all that they have done. Moreover, much hard work, dedication, and encouragement stems from our marketing partners: Wheeler Truck Body, Johnson Auto Centers, Mickey Thompson Tires (www.mickeythompsontires.com), American Racing Wheels (www.americanracing.com), Jeg’s High Performance (www.jegs.com), Simpson Performance Products (www.teamsimpson.com), and Race Against Drugs (www.raceagainstdrugs.org).

With all of the help from everyone involved, we are hopeful that the O’Reilly Fall Nationals will run safely and smoothly for our team and all racers involved. Please stay posted for upcoming news and events from McWilliams/Johnson Boyz Motorsports.
