    NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car

For Immediate Release: November 30, 2005

    VIPsports.com Signs on for 2006…

Orlando, Florida. The Performance Racing Industry Show – VIPsports.com announced their continuing sponsorship of the ParkerTech Racing Services Dodge Stratus Top Alcohol Funny Car for the 2006 National Hot Rod Association season. Fredrik Wadstein, Marketing Manager for VIPsports.com, was obviously excited to release the news. “The 2005 season delivered far more than we could have imagined,” he said. “Several of us attended our first professional drag race and were positively awed by the sights, sounds, aromas and excitement of NHRA racing. Nothing we had ever read or watched on television prepared us for such an enthralling experience. Signing up for a second season with ParkerTech was on our minds after the very first race.”

Wadstein went on to explain that “We sponsor many activities around the globe, but 2005 marked our first venture into the world of NHRA Drag Racing. Television coverage indicated great sponsorship potential, which piqued our interest. One of our regional managers introduced us to ParkerTech Racing Services, we all hit it off just grand and VIPsports.com was off to the races.”

Frank Parker, the car owner, was justifiably pleased by the good news. “We had a great 2005 season with VIPsports.com. Their support allowed us to field a new McKinney chassis with one of the first top fuel Dodge Stratus bodies adapted to alcohol cars. With VIP’s return in 2006, the competitive strength we built in 2005 will be even better.” Parker went on to state that the enthusiasm of VIPsports.com was such that two additional NHRA National events will be added to the team’s 2006 schedule. Parker also noted that his father, long-time Sportsman racer Dan Parker, would return to share crew chief duties. Other crewmembers, Rob Cunningham, Tom Cunningham, Tom Krebaum, Tom McVey, Nancy McVey, Tony Gulley and Brad Eldred will bring their skills back to the team.

Danny Townsend, of Muncie, Indiana, will continue as the team’s driver. “I was impressed with the folks from VIPsports.com and I’m glad they’ll be with us again in 2006,” Townsend said. “The company officers that came to the races struck me as straight-forward and conscientious folks. And, they were a lot of fun – it was like being at the races with your buddies.”
