I don't have a picture, but the flow meter goes behind the barrel valve so that all fuel going to the motor passes through the meter, but no fuel goes through that is going back to the pump or tank. Normally this would be right ahead of the Y or T fitting that seperates the port and hat nozzles.

You also need at least 4-5" of straight line between the flow meter and the barrel valve and 4-5" straight line before the Y to stop turbulance in the flow. Normally you can use the lower leg of the K valve just for and leanouts.

    flowmeter

seems like a lot off fittings and stuff in short space
    barrell valve , #10 fitting, 4 inch #10 hose,#10 fitting, flow meter,
    #10 fitting, 4inch #10 hose, #10 fitting, y #10 to two #8, split
to hat and port dist block
sure is a lot of hose and fittings in a small length
if i had a picture of someones maybe i can shorten things up or get a better
setup(i saw jay paynes promod and seems he had something a little different)
    email pics to promod360r@yahoo.com
link to pics would be helpful
    thanks

If you want the readings to be accurate then you have to have the straight section before and after the flow sensor. You can shorten it up all you want but the readings may not be accurate and that defeats the purpose of readiing fuel flow. The straight fittings before and after are specified both by Racepac and by the company that makes the flow sensor.
