Just got back from the Dutch Classic @ Maple Grove. I won,t get into specks But I was wondering if a PSI D will run as good as my roots , with a 452 fathead motor in a 292 " 2210 lbs car.with a powerglide It went .958 60 ft. breaking the beams with the rear tires, and .3875 in the 1/8 th. This question is really for Mike Canter, but what does anyone else think. Thanks Don Onimus

    specs

Really don't need to know the specs. The answer is YES. With the right fuel system the psi will go quicker and faster and be easier on your engine than the roots. Especially in a dial in class where you don't have to push it.

    blowers

Thanks Will. I know it is easier on the bearings, Ran TAD for 5 years. Just wasn,t sure about this stuff. I see these outlaw cars and they don,t seem to run all that fast with the PSI. Will stay in touch. Again thanks for letting me know what I wanted to hear. Don

Don, Will is 100% correct. I don't understand your statement about Outlaw cars not running that fast with screw blowers. Frankie Taylor ran a 3.59 in his screw blown promod, Joey Martin runs his in the 3,60's just to name a couple. There are a lot of screw blown cars running in the 3.60's. There is no way a Rootes blower can compete with a screw blower. It only takes about 150 HP to drive a screw blower and it takes around 400-450 HP to drive a Rootes blower. The boost out of a screw blower on a promod can be as high as 58-60 lbs. A screw blower does not heat up the incoming air charge from friction like a Rootes blower, a screw blower remains constant on boost so the tuneup doesn't change much where as a Rootes is wearing out the stripes from the first start so the tuneup is constantly changing. These days if you want to run fast you need a screw blower (and a traction control device, lol). The problem with switching to a screw blower is the cost. You need a new blower, the quill, the snout, the plate and a new hat. Then you need a bigger pump and a new fuel setup and control.

    blowers

Thanks Mike, I have all that. Just need an injector. Dont really follow outlaw cars, just have seen a few test and wasnt real impressed. But I guess it is like anything else. It depends on who it is. Didnt mean to upset anyone. Again thanks Don

The biggest reasons some of these Outlaw cars do not perform with screw blowers are that they don't understand the difference in efficiency between the Roots and the screw blowers and are running Rootes fuel systems on screw blower or they have no timing control to get them off the line and through gear changes.
