We have a Pro cap on our Promag 44. It has a hole about 1/2" drilled in the top. Is this for phasing? And can we plug it off and use it? Or do we need to buy a new cap?

Probably to let the ozone out of the cap, to prevent cross firing in the cap. Our 44's don't have them, but some people think it helps. Doesn't hurt operation as long as no dirt/water/ stuff gets in the cap

If it is right up next to the plug wire terminal and at number one wire then it has been put there for phasing. If you don't need it then it doesn't hurt to leave it open. I leave mine open.

Cool...thanks guys. I believe it is right by number one plug wire. Is that just simply so you can look in there and make sure it's straight up on # 1 when running a trigger? Or if using retards setting it one way or the other to compensate for the retard setting?
