MSD 44 used with tach and convertor

We use a MSD 44 amp mag, we recently fitted and tach and the convertor...first time we used it the control(points) box totally packed up, was this because of the convertor? or was it just a coincidence? We still had the control box under warranty so it was repaired by MSD and sent back to us. Im just worried if we put it on again it will do the same.
And it is defintetly wired in correctly as we triple checked this.
Any help would be great as its a weird one that im hoping not connected

We run a MSD converter for our datalogger, never had a problem with it.
