Snyder Ready for Season to Begin in Gainesville

Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports/TORCO Racing Fuels Team will kick off the 2006 race season this weekend at Gainesville Raceway. The defending Division 3 champion tested at the Eastern Spring Test Nationals last weekend in Valdosta, Georgia and the 24-year-old driver added to his growing list of accomplishments by breaking the existing track record en route to the Chicago-Style Showdown championship in Top Alcohol Funny Car.
Snyder, who finished 5th in the POWERade points standings last year, is looking forward to the challenge of the upcoming season. “The whole Team is really anxious to get back out on the track. We have spent the entire winter preparing for the 2006 season. Hopefully, we will be able to start the season right where we left off.” Last year in Joliet at their final event of the season, the team claimed a runner-up finish and recorded the first ever 5.5 second pass down the quarter mile by a converter-equipped car.
“It felt really good to be behind the wheel of the car after the winter hiatus and we had a chance to try some of our new ideas during the test session as well. The Top Alcohol Funny Car division is going to be as competitive as ever this year,” remarked Snyder. “The typical frontrunners are running well right now and there are going to be some new cars out here mixing it up too. Our goal is to be right in the thick of things when it comes down to the last couple races.”

The TORCO Racing Fuels sponsored funny car team will make their first lap down the quarter mile at 1:30 Friday afternoon.
