When you use a six shooter, + crank trigger, do you phase the mag the same as on just the mag? It's all electronically controlled now, not like turning the mags for retard. Wondering what others do or think. Tried to use MSD site, but no luck. Maybe I missed it. Thanks Don

Don a lot depends on how much you are moving the timing through the run. From what I have seen most alky timing changes are less than six degrees with most of the run at one degree setting. With less than six degree change I phase the rotor at the base timing. I believe this may be a little different with nitro and I have heard that the rotor phasing is sometimes split in the middle of the timing changes. One thing you have to be real careful of is how far off the rotor is phased when you are starting the motor because there is a point were the spark is too weak to jump a wide gap while the starter is turning over the motor and it will not start. So basically in alky operations if the timing is at 26* for a base then that is where I phase it at.

Remember a 6* change on the crank is only 3* in the mag.
