I took my trans apart tonight and found the .180 shim between the shift fork and the pressure plate bearing is concaved. The same problem in both cases with the rear being the worse. The trans is a Cs1 3 speed with only 25 passes since new. Everything else looks brand new. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

That will happen occassionally, the washer gets bent from the pressure exerted against the pressure plate. If you're at the track, just bang it flat with a hammer. If you're at the shop, put a new one in. The newer Lenco's don't have that washer any more, the spacer is built in to the aluminum fork thingee (can't remember the name of it).

I have had to replace our washers/shims a couple of times also because they went concave. Doesn't seem to hurt anything other than change the pull pressure a little. I do change them after I find them like that. I wish I knew why? It never happened when we used manual levers on the tranny. It only started to happen after we switched to air pods. We use the prescribed 150 psi. I think I will call Lenco today and see what they say. Maybe they know some trick to stop it or a better shim/washer.

Then let us know what you find out. I am sure we are not the only ones having this problem.

How old is the Trans. I just overhauled mine and it had the old style washers in it. The new roller plates use a much thicker washer about .180. I would imagine to eliminate the bending. Replaced mine with the new style but you have to machine a receiver in the old roller plates to accept the thicker thrust washer. If you get the new roller plates they have the groove already in them. I had to shim a little to get the pressure correct but this upgrade is pretty much a simple deal. The new thrust washers fit alot better in the bearing on the clutch drum.

Just Lenco a call and they will explain the procedure better than I just did.
