Team eRaceFuels Back On Track With Strong Performance In Pomona.

29 of the strongest TA/FC's in the country showed up for the final event of the 2005 racing season in Pomona at the NHRA Auto Club Finals. After 3 sessions of qualifying, Larry Miner qualified number 2 with a great 5.634 at over 255 miles per hour.

"After a frustrating weekend in Chicago we dissected the car from weight bar to wheelie bar to find out what went wrong. I found some significant issues we were having in the bellhousing area of the race car that really effected our consistency this season," said team owner Randy Goodwin. "One run we'd set the world on fire and the next it would shake or smoke the tires. It took a real team effort and a lot of work to sort this thing out and it showed at Pomona."

With renewed confidence Randy, Larry and the team set about turning up the screws to the performance numbers they know the car is capable of for their first round match up. As a result, the team posted low et of the meet with a great time of 5.605 which was almost 3 hundredths quicker than any other run in TA/FC up to that point. What makes this run even more amazing is that the engine lost a cylinder half way through high gear due to an issue with a spark plug.

Second round on Sunday had the team feeling very confident of their chances of making it into the winner's circle. In that round Larry faced up against New Hampshire's David Ray in the potent "Follow A Dream" Dodge Avenger TA/FC. David got off the line first with a great reaction time of .002 to Larry's very good .029. By the 330 foot marker, Larry's incremental times indicated that the eRaceFuels team machine had already pulled ahead, but the car drifted dangerously close to the centerline and in the "marbles". When it was evident to Larry that the car was not going to get off the centerline, he made the tough decision to abort the run rather than risk crossing the centerline and hitting timing equipment and damaging the eRaceFuels machine or ruining David Ray's chance at a full run down the track.

"Having to decide whether or not to abort a run is a tough decision to make in the heat of battle," said Miner. "We saw Steve Gasparrelli run a great 5.59 right in front of us and knew the track conditions were there for another great run for our team, but that's racing."

"I want to personally thank Evan Knoll, Brian and Latrell from TORCO Racing Fuels for trusting us to represent eRaceFuels and Skull Gear this year," said Randy Goodwin. "Not only are the folks at TORCO great sponsors, they're great friends and without them we wouldn't be here. I can't wait for next year."
