Just curious about blowers and the M5. We have a 14/71 Kobelco hi helix, very happy with it, makes good boost and motor makes good power.

Few questions, obviously the M5 is better and improved and I understand how and why, my question is, can I make or add anything to make our blower more effiecient?

By this I mean were limited to 15% (class rules) so how can I improve our blower?

We have the KS14-3RL opening and 10.5 inch top opening.

    Anyone help?

I have seen the top opening made smaller. On some cars that helps but on some it doesn't. It is just something you have to try. The other item that can give you about 150 hp is a DMPE spacer between the hat and the blower. This moves the hat up and forward and helps improve the angle of the incomming air. The reason I say a DMPE spacer because Darren custom makes them to match the bottom of your hat and the top of your blower so there are no ridges. There are probably some more tricks but these are reasonable to do and are affordable. Call Jon Salemi at DMPE at (716) 832-7583

Mike, got the DMPE spacer, and we also made out own hat to flow air to match the spacer (couldnt use carbon as not allowed in rules) so we made from aluminium. Car is working well, (6.42 1000 foot pass) but were ones for trying things to go faster.

Interested in smaller top opening, as far as I know its gives boost faster?

Jon and Darren as you know are pretty knowledgable on the Kobelcos and they might have some more tricks up their sleeves.

    Split and Conquer?

    Hello Mike,

How do you feel about the hats/spacers that divide the charge air where it enters the blower?

I can only quote what DMPE told me on that. Darren told me that in his dyno testing that he found no gain by putting a divider in the spacers. I don't know about up in the injector hat but my quess is that there are still benefits for the divider up there.
