I was going through my notes from my fuel system and I noticed among other things that when I got the system new it came with a 16psi idle check in it. Now, researching idle check settings on this site, I noticed that 9-12 seems to be the norm. My question is what kind of issues or engine behaviours would a person notice with a higher idle check setting over a lower one. The engine ran fine with the higher setting but if I go to say, 10-12 would this be better? Guess what it boils down to is what would make a person choose one over the other?

Hopefully this isn't too broad a question.

It is normally 8-9 on a Roots blower and 20 on a screw blower. You can raise it on a Roots blower but you will idle richer so you have to set the BV leaner.

    Idle Check

I was thinking about it after I asked the question and it seemed to me that what you just said was exactly right Mike, it always was quite fat on idle. The whole tune up I got with the system was pig fat so I think thats where they were going with it, just setting me up with a safe (rich) tuneup to get me started. Thats good, I was thinking in the correct direction.

    Thanks Again
