Hi Helix Vs Hi Helix Retro

    How Much Of A Difference Would It Be From A Hi Helix To A Hi Helix Retro. Both 14/71 Littlefeilds Both Fresh Both Have Billet Rotors.the Only Difference Is One Is A Retro Both Have Fuel In The Rear I Know There Is A Horse Power Difference Because Of The Difference Of The Discharge. The Main Question Is Can I Run The Hi Helix Retro Tune Up With The Hi Helix If I Spin Them The Same Speed. Just Thinking About This Because I Might Have A Hi Helix As A Back Up And I Found It With The Right Price On It Thanks Jamie----------------look Bruce I Put Periods In Lol Just Kidding-----------

    fuel system is different for blowers jamie. what blower did you tell oddy you were going to get. you dont put furniture in the house before the carpet do you?.. why would you get a fuel system before you get a blower?....:eek:

    Bruce, We Have A Hi Helix Retro Littlefeild With Kobelco Rotors That Is Fresh. I Just Found A Hi Helix Non Retro That I Can Get Real Cheap, I Mean Real Cheap And Its Fresh. Just Been Freshened By Someone Very Reputable Was Just Wondering If I Could Run The Same Tune Up With Both Blowers Would It Even Be Close. Jamie

    no, you can't. with a retro you will need a plate to move the blower back on the manifold , which places the air in the manifold different. you would not be able to compare the two blowers. why would you need to switch back and forth anyways. after 4 years of messing around , i think you guys should at least try to get the car done, try to learn how to run it corectly and get a liscense. stop worrying about lean outs, enrichments, advances or retards. all you guys need is a main jet and a high speed jet. go race the damn thing , and quit worring about what the cars have that are running 245 - 260 mph. you don't have those parts. learn to run what you have.

    Dang, pretty hard on a guy wanting to learn more on blowers. I do agree on learning to run what you got and not what every one else has, but I too read this board for all the info I can to hopefully one day run with those big dogs too! (and hopefully not tear up to much because I did my homework) I am sure all of you fast guys started from the bottom once.

    look H , i know these guys pretty well. i wouldn't bust your balls if i didn't know you. there is a lot more to the story than i have time to discuss.

    Bruce I'm Not Trying To Switch Back And Forth As You Say. I'm Not Worring About What Other Guys Are Running. I Dont Have Retards Or Whatever You Think But I Do Have A Set Back Plate On The Intake. I Just Want To Learn As Much About Blower Engines And About The Different Types Of Blowers And Why It Is What It Is. I'm Not Going To Be Hummmm Let's Just Say A Guy We Both Know Who Blows Everthing Up For Stupidy. Someone Once Told Me That The Only Dumb Question Is One That Doesn't Get Asked Because If You Knew The Answer You Would Not Be Asking! Hell I'm Just Tring To Find Out Answers To Things I'm Not Sure Of . I Think That Is What This Fourm Is All About! Do You Ask Questions? I'm Not Afraid To Because If I Dont Know I'm Going To Ask. That Is How We Learn I'm Sure You Didnt Know All That You Know Without Asking Someone And I'm Sure Somewhere Along The Line Someone Helped You.I'm Going To Put This Thing Together The Best That I Can I Know We Are Not A National Event Team Not Even Close Just Trying To Get From Point A To Point B. That Dosent Stop Me From Wanting To Know. Yes I Had The Fuel System Set Up By Oddy For A Retro Thats What We Have. But If The Blower Would Work As A Spare For A Couple Of Hundered Dollars I Would Get It But If We Cant Use It Theres No Need. I Thank You For All The Questions You Have Answered For Me I Will Always Be Greatful To You For That. Dont Take Me Wrong. I Dont Ask The Same Question Twice. I Try To Keep My Mouth Shut And My Eyes Open To Learn, Weather Or Not We Ever Make Another Pass Or Not I Want To Know Because I'm A Gear Head Always Have Been. This Is The First Blower Engine I Have Ever Been Around And I Want To Know Just Because I Can. That Is Why I Have Asked You If You Wanted Or Needed Help Was The Fact You Already Know These Things And I Want To Know Also. The Only Way To Learn Is Either By Mistake OR Someone Showing You. I Have A Great Deal Of Respect For You And Your Equipment That Is Why I Wanted To Be A Part Of It If Nothing Else I'm Not Stupid Just Curious. Jamie

    the problem jamie , is you are asking alot of questions that alot of people, including myself, have paid alot of money to learn about and they aren't always going to tell you everything. Also there are 100 ways to tune an alcohol engine. the problem is there are close to 100 different style of engine combonations out there. you can't take answers from everybody , put them in a bag , shake it up, and come out with the right answer. i don't ask questions about tuning a fat head or an AJ headed motor because it won't help me. when i ran old style fuel heads and a roots , i didn't worry about how a veney motor with a screw worked. all i did was concentrate on what was or is in front of me. there are reasons for running a retro and why NOBODY that is running fast is using a standard high helix. they are all running retros. there are also reasons why you can get a std. high helix cheap. NOBODY wants it. as long as you spend time and money questioning everything that goes on around you , you won't have enough time and money to spend on you're own. i understand you want to learn about these cars, but the best way to learn is ask ONE person, and stay with that ONE person. I'm not saying that I am that person ( not real familiar with a blown chevy). Ask questions about THE combonation that is presently in front of you ,and go out into the world and race. then you can learn from YOUR trials and mistakes. don't worry about having extra blowers and different clutches to try because all the different parts react so different it will get your tune-up so mixed up you won't know which side is up. Now go out into the world grasshopper and do long smokey burnouts.

I Have Talked To The Darkside And We Both Agree We Want To Put You In The Car To Help Us Shake It Down Even If It Hauls Ass I Think After Our Talk We Had (him And I) If You Would At Least We Know You Can Drive So I Dont Have To Fight The Car And The Driver If The Car Will Go StrAight With You Then All I Need To Do Is Fix Whats Behind The Wheel (if It Can Be ) Lol Jamie
