Probably been asked this a few times, what is theoretical ideal gearing for altered/funny car, 125 inch wheelbase, 511cu in bbc, 14-71, 3 speed Lenco, 10.7 inch crower clutch (2 disc) 36 inch tyre (possibly going to 34.5 next year),
Any more info needed please ask………….
What is ideal gearing for ¼ mile? In both Lenco and rear end.
At the moment we have best of 6.90 at 195.67 mph
Our best speed to the 1/8th so far is only 158, i want it closer to 166-170
Also our 60ft times are normally 1.09 to 1.11 (TOO SLOW!!)
330ft around 2.87 to 3.01 (depends on track)
    Thanks

With the 36" tire probably wanting 1.92 low gear with a 4.29 rear.
The 34.5 tire can probably drop to a 1.89 low gear maybe less depends on how stout the engine is.
1.34 or 1.36 second gear should work fine too.

Engine is best of everything, blower made 38lbs boost on our last run.
ITs restripped every event. heads are billet morgan. keith black chevy block.

    ideally i want .9 60fts and 330 at about the 2.75-2.77 mark

through the lights its only going through at 6500-7000rpm and at the moment shifting at 8000rpm so lots more to come from motor

about 2 yrs ago I ran similar combination. at 37lbs boost we ran a best of 6.50s at 210mph. 8000-8500rpm shifts. my 60fts were like yours because I used a crowerglide @ 3500rpm launch. this was at 2500ft elevation tracks. I was burning the plug on the flat all around. maybe your still alittle fat?
