Im putting together a fresh air system using a fireman 30 min 4500 psi scott scba cylinder. Not really planning on filling all the way so a 3000 psi regulator will probally be just fine. Im just getting tripped up with a regulator. Looking for something compact like the syatems for sale are using. Has anyone put one together and has suggestions?

first off you have to ask what this is going on, and will it be legal. the rulebook is extremely vague on this and the only ones ive ever seen used are by simpson and chi town products.it says in the rulebook system? must be made by same manufacturer. they use the composite bottle with a regulator to a line with a shutoff valve to the helmet which has to be installed by the manufacturer. now filling the bottle is a different story, and ive used both the scott bottle and a scuba tank for filling them, you probably wont get above 2600 anyway, most scuba shops wont fill them more thank 3k anyways. if you are talking about using a scott system in a car, that might be sticky. granted the scott systems with their on demand regulators will work fine, the tech guys might flunk it anyway, and the tank is way more heavy than the small bottles. granted, you can buy a scott for waaaaaay less than a simpson bottle, but I would get ahold of a tech guy to find out the specifics on this. I do use this scott to paint cars with a full mask, and prevents the new paints from poisoning me, works great for that. I pull tear offs on the mask, and keeps the lens clear.there is nothing in the nhra accepted products for these bottles. whats your application?
