egt bungs

Ricky ruiz gave me some egt bungs for my headers..i can't afford the racepak data recorder so going have to find something cheaper;
[1]the bungs he gave me is for racepack egt probes..can i use other probes or only racepack?
[2]ho flexable are the probes comming out of headers?why i'm asking this is i have some major bends in my tubes so to put the bungs at 1 1/2" from head as i was recomened to do on here the prodes will be facing directly at valve covers on some tubes are only 2"from tube itself to cover
[3]can they be mounted on bottom of tubes or will that put them to close to plugs and wires?
