I am looking for some basic info from anybody that runs, or has run a screw blower on a Big Chief or a 481x on alcohol. Right now we run a Kobelco K-8 High Helix on a KB Olds with Ray Franks BBC wedge heads. I need to know?

    1. Is 10.5 to 1, O.K. for the base compression? or is it to high/low?
    2. Does a screw pick on certain cylinders like the Roots does?
    3. Is a screw really easier on parts, assuming same boost etc?
    4. How quickly does the boost come up when swapping feet?
    5. Whats the major differences in the way the fuel is delivered as the car goes down the track? Compared to a High Helix Roots!

I would really appreciate info on this, as we are seriously considering switching over!

    Thanks, Lonnie Houde

Yes We Run A Whipple, Kb Olds,sonnys/brodix 14.5 Degree. We Like The No Maintenance Aspect Of It.boost Comes In Too Fast At Times, We Run A Throttle Actuator. Plenty Of Power.10.5 Should Be No Problem. The Tuneup We Run Is A Little Different From A Roots, Mostly The High Speed. Not Sure If Any Combo Is Easier On Parts, So I'd Say No To That Question. If You're Considering Switching I Could Get You Close With A Tune Up
