    Longtime Division 3 Tech Inspector "Pinky" Cobbs passes

    Veteran Division 3 tech inspector and 1989 North Central Division Person of the Year Don "Pinky" Cobbs succumbed Tuesday evening, Oct. 18, to brain cancer. He was 62. Cobbs was one of the original NHRA Division 3 tech inspectors and the NHRA tech and chassis instructor for Division 3. Cobbs, who worked for NHRA for 37 years and last worked at the Aug. 26-28 Beech Bend Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series race, was diagnosed with brain cancer in the middle of September. NHRA expresses its heartfelt condolences to his friends and family and offers its sincerest gratitude to Cobbs for his long and meaningful service. He was born and raised in Salem, Ohio, and is survived by his wife, Dorothy; mother, Zella; and brother, Douglas; best friends, Steve and Joyce Hartung; and goddaughter, Abigail Hartung. He was a longtime employee of Abex/Denison and Multipress. Cobbs' ashes will be scattered. Friends and neighbors are invited to his home Saturday, Oct. 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. Arrangements by Schoedinger-Norris Chapel. Messages may be left at www.schoedinger.com.
