I've been battling a problem with my 565 F3R blow thru carb. I've been having a problem under high boosts (35-36 psi gas C-16) in the upper RPM with pressure spikes. Like 97 to 100 psi spikes in the data recorder. And it's causing problems to say the least. Fuel pressure is good, plugs look happy, EGT's are OK so the tune up tells me everthing is OK......but it's not!! After talking to a Blown Alky dragster friend he tells me that he's seen the same things on his recorder and just adds fuel in the upper RPM's and it takes care of it. He's the first that seemed to relate to what's going on. Have any of you others dealt with this issue and does it appear to be fuel related in the upper RPM's?? At first I thought the data was corrupted, but this weekend it blew out a 90lbs burst panel and smoked a piston. So it convinced me it's real.
    Appreciate help or comments.................blessings...........Ron Clevenger.

My first question to you would be. How old is the burst panel? They will fail from fatigue. Does the boost graph spike, or is it a gradual spike? If it's a sharp spike, I myself would dismiss it, especially if everything is ok and nothing is broken. You might have the boost transducer checked. I would also install a 2nd boost gauge with a telltale to see what the maximum boost is on a run.

I agree with Alkydrag. If the pressure spike have a real fast rise time then they are not real but are a transducer problem. Blower pressures just cannot rapidly change in a rootes blower. Can you do a Print Screen and email me an example of what you are talking about to the email address listed below.

    Hi Ron,
My question is not related to your previous post .
I want to know what are the components of the fuel system in your car.
pump type , regulator , fuel press. to boost press control device , ignition type.
    Thanks
    Claude

I guess the terminology was misleading. I don't think the spikes are coming from the blower. I think or suspect they might be coming from something like a detonation or mini back fire at 7800+ rpm and full throttle. Can't hear or detect visually.
Believe me, I've thrashed about everything reasonible and also at first thought they were not real. But after last weekend I've come to the conclusion they are. Especially after the burst plate going and before that it was blowing off the "blow of valve) BOV around 78-7900 rpm every pass, which just don't happen. I know most of you are not familar with the centrifical blow thru carb deal. But the physics are the same in the ports below the carb.

Claude, if it's just for interest I'll send that later so as to not confuse the issue. I've thrashed all that and the problem seems else where.

Stick a boost gauge with a check and relief valve on it and see what it's stuck on after a pass.
