Reichert ready to do battle at Jegs All-Stars

JOLIET, Ill. - Defending NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster World Champion Bill Reichert and his Rislone Engine Treatment/ Bar's Leaks sponsored team will be fighting a battle on two fronts this weekend as they will represent Division 3 in the prestigious Jegs All-Stars event, which is held during this weekend's Torco Race Fuels Route 66 Nationals at Route 66 Raceway just outside of Chicago. The race within a race pits the top racers from each of NHRA's seven geographical divisions along with the previous year's champion to race for the Jegs All-Stars crown. There is also a $7,000 double-up bonus from Jegs if a racer is able to win both the All-Stars event and the national event.

Reichert, from Owosso, Mich., is excited about the opportunity to race in the All-Star event, but knows it makes for a very busy weekend.

"We have two races to run this weekend," said Reichert. "There's more preperation involved because there are more runs. Chicago is usually a fast track, so we're looking forward to what the weekend has in store."

"The All-Star race is a big deal to win," Reichert added. "We won the All-Star race back in '99 the first race back from our crash in Atlanta. That was a special deal. We would definitely like to put the Rislone colors in the winner's circle again. Winning both would be really special, but you just have to take it one step at a time."

Qualifying begins on Friday for the Top Alcohol cars. The Jegs All-Star event will be contested on Saturday with three elimination rounds. Final eliminations for the Torco Race Fuels Route 66 Nationals will conclude the event on Sunday.
