Bar’s Leaks Stratus Lacks in Houston

<img border="0" src="http://insidetopalcohol.com/johnsonnplaunch.jpg" width="400" height="258" align="left">Houston – After a couple of confident races to start the season, the Bar’s Leaks / Etterman Racing team hit racing reality at Jonathan Johnson’s home track of Houston Raceway Park.

The team qualified low at No. 16 with an elapsed time of 5.938 seconds at only 247 mph. This low qualifying position on the bump set up a first round match-up with number one qualifier Mick Snyder, who qualified with an elapsed time of 5.62.

“We had an off weekend,” states George Etterman. “This does not happen to us too often, and we just could not get down the racetrack the way that we would have liked. We all worked very hard, and Jonathan, as usual, did everything we could have asked of him in the opening round. He had a great reaction time and tried to make a great race out of it. On the contrary, this is the down side to racing, but we will rebound from this,” Etterman proclaims.

“I always approach racing open minded. It is a sport that is full of highs and lows, and this was simply a low weekend,” Jonathan admits. “We worked as a team here, as we always do, it just wasn’t our weekend. I have the utmost confidence in everyone on this team, especially David Scheelk, and we will be right back in the mix when we appear at Texas Motorplex for the Division 4 point’s race in Ennis, Texas,” concludes Johnson.

“It is sort of frustrating to appear at your home track and not be able to perform to your highest standards,” Katie Ward tells. “However, Etterman Racing always finds light in any situation. Sunday, the crew had a great time relaxing and making contacts with other teams and drivers, as well as entertaining several local sponsors. The team is determined to do well and plans to make those efforts in Ennis within the next few weeks,” finishes Ward.
